Settling In At Home

This morning is a flurry of activity. It’s 9am and mom is already downstairs in her chair in the kitchen. Uncle Carlisle made breakfast this morning in honor of mom and dad’s 29th wedding anniversary tomorrow. Mom’s friend Mary from nursing school as been in town the last few days. It’s tough getting stories out of them, but you can tell from mom’s smiles that those two had way too much fun back in Omaha. Dad’s sister Amy was here last week. Despite years away from nursing, Aunt Amy didn’t miss a beat taking perfect care of ma.

Getting up and down the stairs is pretty slow going, but mom’s a trooper. She is moving much slower than a few weeks ago. Another trip to the hospital last week has definitely taken its toll. She is so patient with the flurry of activity that surrounds her every day. She gets two different antibiotics. IV nutrition runs at night. She has a biliary drain that gets flushed every four hours to help keep her bilirubin down. The medicine is complicated, but what matters most is mom’s smiles through it all. Not that she doesn’t get frustrated – for a woman who thrives on errands and taking caring of others, we all know how hard it must be for her to let us take care of her.

We apologize for our inconsistency with blogging. Everything has been changing so frequently, and sometimes it’s hard to know what to share.  Though it all, we continue to be so grateful for the meals, the prayers, and the constant love. Mom continues to need your encouragement. We thought a Caring Bridge site would help you love her better. Go to the link below to post messages, pictures, and prayers. We will make sure to share your thoughts with mom.

We love you all!

New site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/pamdedinsky . Visit here for future updates. This site allows you to leave messages for my mom and the family. Thanks for the continued prayers.
